The cover image of Menuez's Heaven, Earth, Tequila (Waterside Publishing, 2005) is an image worthy of Samuel Beckett: three naked men up to their crotches in sunken vats of agave and straining toward the light from a high window.
Far from being a straight documentation of the tequila industry, it is an intoxicating visual exploration of Mexican culture through the lens of the national drink.
Menuez's photographs draw on documentary roots as well as travel and fashion photography, but the overall impact of Heaven, Earth, Tequila is an artistic impression of what Menuez calls "the magical confusion of Mexico."
