Latest Condé Nast Layoffs: Vanity Fair, W

More layoffs hit Condé Nast October 16, this time at Vanity Fair and W, the oversized luxury fashion book. Vanity Fair lost a handful from the business side while W cut about seven people in sales and marketing.

The latest cuts also included the Condé Nast Media Group, the corporate sales arm that Lou Cona took over from Richard Beckman earlier this year.

Other titles including Golf Digest, Glamour and Vogue have trimmed staff in recent days following a companywide review and cost-cutting effort.

That review resulted in the closing of four titles: Gourmet, Cookie, Modern Bride and Elegant Bride.

More title-by-title headcount cuts at Condé Nast are expected through the end of next week, after which decisions could be made to trim magazine frequencies, insiders said.
