Over time much has been written about the face and as we announce
the winners of our second annual
PDN Faces photography
contest, we see that faces are certainly popular photography
subjects—in both human and animal form. We proudly display these
images in the following gallery and congratulate the winners on
their outstanding contributions to portrait photography. All of the
faces captured in this gallery are truly engaging and remarkable,
from the wild gaping mouths on the faces of James Walker’s dogs to
the classy
Mad Men portraits by Frank W. Ockenfels to even
the portraits of the artists themselves (like the vintage ambrotype
self-portrait by Jody Ake). Thank you to all of the photographers
who entered and we hope to hear from you again next year.
