The Yankees’ 10-1 hammering of the Angels in Game 4 of the American
League Championship Series delivered the largest audience of the
postseason, as 10.3 million viewers tuned in to Fox Tuesday
night.
Compared to last year’s NLCS Game 4, the Yankees-Angels blowout was
up 34 percent in total viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day
ratings data.
The Yankees took a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, drawing a
19.8/30 in New York and a 10.8/20 in the Los Angeles market.
To date, Fox’ 2009 ALCS coverage is averaging 8.8 million viewers,
up 22 percent versus the first four games of last year’s
Phillies/Dodgers NLCS (7.2 million). The Yankees will look to
secure their 40th American League pennant in Anaheim Thursday
night; Fox’ coverage of Game 5 of the ALCS begins at 7:57 p.m.
