Jose Padilha to direct Warner Bros. thriller

May 18, 2008 Jose Padilha, who won this year's Golden Bear at Berlin for his Brazilian thriller "Elite Squad," is attached to direct an untitled action thriller at Warner Bros. The story, by Jason Keller, revolves around an American Federal agent who goes undercover in South America's dangerous triborder area, described by Nunnari as a modern day Dodge City, trying to dismantle a terrorist funding network. Hollywood Gang, in production on Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island," recently relocated to Warners, where they have several projects in development, including an adaptation of the Warren Ellis graphic novel "Ocean," Zack Snyder's "Illusions," and Frank Miller's "Ronin" with Sylvain White on board to direct.
