China embraces 'Kung Fu Panda'
July 01, 2008 DreamWorks Animation's "Kung Fu Panda" took in 97 million yuan ($14 million) during its first 10 days in China, the state-owned Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday. "Panda" already is the most successful foreign animated film in China, and is expected to take in 150 million yuan ($21.9 million), the report said. Distributors Huaxia Film and the China Film Group declined to confirm the numbers when contacted by The Hollywood Reporter.
