Vietnam spins 'Silk' into Oscar material


October 05, 2007 Vietnam has chosen "The White Silk Dress" as its submission to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the best foreign-language film Oscar, a producer familiar with the country's selection committee said on Thursday. Winner of the Pusan International Film Festival Audience Choice award in 2006, director Luu Huynh's film – called "Ao Lua Ha Dong" in Vietnamese -- was named the Kodak Vision/Audience Choice at the Fukuoka International Film Festival in September.
