FIP has 'Gigantic' in its grasp


November 10, 2008 First Independent Pictures has acquired domestic rights to Matt Aselton's comedy "Gigantic," starring Paul Dano, Zooey Deschanel, John Goodman, Ed Asner and Jane Alexander. Executive producer Dano plays a mattress salesman who wants to adopt a Chinese baby; an off-kilter woman (Deschanel) distracts him during his quest. The film premiered in September at the Toronto International Film Festival and screened this weekend at the American Film Market, where the deal was closed.
