Minghella tapped for Shanghai jury duty

February 12, 2008 Oscar-winning British helmer Anthony Minghella will serve as president of the international jury for the 11th annual Shanghai International Film Festival, it was announced in Berlin over the weekend. Festival managing director Tang Lijun said that highlights of the June 14-22 festival will include an eye-catching opening ceremony, the official competition for the Jin Jue award, an Asian New Talent award competition, the SIFF Mart, CFPC, Film Panorama and Jin Jue Forum. China has always held special meaning for me, not least because my wife is from a Chinese family in Hong Kong, and she has taught me to respect and appreciate many aspects of Chinese culture.
