EliteTorrents.org operator found guilty

June 29, 2008 A federal jury in Virginia has found the operator of a peer-to-peer Web site that distributed pre-release movies guilty of conspiracy and copyright infringement. The conviction is the eighth in the country since a nationwide federal crackdown on illegal distribution of copyrighted content over P2P networks, said the MPAA, and "sends a clear message that when presented with clear-cut evidence, jurors have little tolerance for the willful, deliberate and widespread distribution of protected content."
