Potter film franchise usurps Bonds crown
September 11, 2007 Pictures said Monday that the five "Harry Potter" movies have grossed $4.47 billion worldwide, surpassing boxoffice generated from 22 James Bond movies. The six-film "Star Wars" franchise sits third on the list of most-lucrative movie series, with $4.23 billion in worldwide boxoffice. "The appeal of the 'Harry Potter' movies knows no border, no age limit and no language barrier," Warners international distribution president Veronika Kwan-Rubinek said.
