Inside Hans Zimmer's Remote Control
November 12, 2008 The inner sanctum of Remote Control, Hans Zimmer's plush Santa Monica studio, is much like the man himself: cool, comfortable and smart, with plenty of attention to detail. In addition to what you'd expect to find in the recording space of a wildly successful Hollywood film composer -- a shiny black Bosendorfer grand piano, immaculate guitars resting against polished wood-paneled walls, a keyboard and mixer in front of an imposing plasma screen -- there is a sense of calm within the cavelike space that belies the extraordinary amount of work that gets done there. Lots of them, arranged in no particular order on built-in, floor-to-ceiling shelves that line the room.
