Korean boxoffice slump continues

May 08, 2008 Nationwide attendance in April was 7.44 million, according to figures released by CJ CGV, Korea’s biggest multiplex chain. After nearly continuous growth from 1996 to 2006, when the movie market grew from $203 million to $1.1 billion, the Korean film industry has been shaken up by a dramatic reversal in fortunes. Local films also performed poorly, accounting for just 23.1% of the boxoffice, the lowest level since July 2007.
