There's talk of using the Fox O&Os, the FX cable network or the post-"Mad TV" slot on Saturdays as a testing ground for personalities and formats that could eventually go the distance to a networkwide late-night launch.
Fox's syndication division, Twentieth Television, recently took the regional test approach for its syndicated series "Good Day Live" and "Texas Justice" before a national launch.
The Fox-owned stations generally have had great success with off-network sitcoms and other syndicated fare in the 11 p.m.-midnight hour, but it's also understood that the network would benefit from a cohesive late-night presence to follow the 10 p.m. newscasts that run on most Fox affiliates.
