With her hair cropped short and boyish, wearing a T-shirt, short skirt, tights and boots, Higgins moved back and forth between electric piano and acoustic guitar, offering up bare-bones yet engaging readings. Delicate piano ballads such as the evocative "Night Minds" and "All for Believing," which she wrote when she was 15 years old, recalled the heart-laid-bare approach of Sarah McLachlan, though Higgins has a far huskier voice.
