A character-driven thriller that combines the right proportions of taut angst and comic relief thanks to knowing direction by John Dahl, the nicely acted serving of film noir should log decent boxoffice mileage for Fox. Paul Walker, fresh from "The Fast and the Furious," and the ever-reliable Steve Zahn make for credible brothers who embark on a road trip that hits more than its share of nasty potholes. Lewis Thomas (Walker) is a college freshman who has always pined for platonic pal, Venna (Leelee Sobieski).
