A new batch of syndicated dating shows proved a perfect match for indie outlet KCAL Los Angeles, which scored big demo ratings gains in the early evening during the November sweep, according to just-released Los Angeles market ratings data from Nielsen Media Research.
There was moving and shaking in the competitive early-morning and afternoon/evening news races, but KCAL still took the local November sweep prize for most notable time period turnaround, thanks to its 5-6 p.m. dating shows "The 5th Wheel" and "Elimidate."
The half-hour syndie strips generated triple-digit increases over the ratings KCAL delivered in the hour in the November 2000 sweep with reruns of "The Real World" and the syndicated panel show "Sex Wars."
