Brody, one of the leads on Fox's hit series about life in Orange County, Calif., has landed a supporting role in the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie starrer "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" for helmer Doug Liman and Regency Enterprises. Shooting in Los Angeles, the Simon Kinberg-penned project sees Pitt and Jolie playing a bored married couple who discover that they are enemy assassins hired to kill each other. The part was originally envisioned as an ethnic role, but insiders said that Liman, an executive producer on "The O.C.," pressed to have the part rewritten specifically for Brody.
