'N Sync popsters Lance Bass and Joey Fatone make their big motion picture starring debuts in the appropriately titled "On the Line," and the result is an evident case of the boys in the bland.
To be fair, their performances aren't exactly out of line with the totally vacant writing and direction, which, when combined, produce a particularly flavorless, sticky brand of bubble gum -- the kind that seems to take forever to scrape off the bottom of one's shoe.
Of course, the producers couldn't care one iota about what grumpy, unappreciative critics have to say, but while two-fifths of the wildly successful boy group might be sufficient to bring in enough squealing young fans for a decent opening weekend, chances are the Miramax release will be saying "bye bye bye" a lot quicker than, say, that peppier Spice Girls movie.
