Daniele Thompson's $10 million comedy, set for a theatrical release in February, follows three main characters: a successful TV actress (Valerie Lemercier) who is dissatisfied with her life and courting a Hollywood director (Sydney Pollack) for her first major film role; a classical music prodigy (Albert Dupontel) who is fighting with his manager wife and desperately seeking solitude; and an art collector (Claude Brasseur) about to auction off all his work. ThinkFilm acquisitions manager David Laub spotted the comedy at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Rendezvous With French Cinema in March and recommended that other execs, including theatrical head Mark Urman, catch it at a market screening at May's Festival de Cannes. Other foreign-film Oscar candidates picked up for U.S. distribution so far include "The Lives of Others," "After the Wedding," "Lights in the Dusk," "Indigenes" (Days of Glory) and "Black Book."
