Aside from the horrifying but thankfully fleeting moment when Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony borrowed a page from a telenovella to serenade one another in a language known perhaps only to them, Sunday night's 47th annual Grammy Awards telecast was everything the music industry itself these days is not: spirited, classy, inclusive, vibrant and generally rockin'.
All of that, and the acceptance speeches didn't ramble on interminably and require an orchestra to drown them out except at the very end.
Of course, by that time the Grammycast was nearly 3 1/2 hours old, capping a ceremony of lively performances and sometimes awkward juxtapositions that was never anything less than earnest.
