"Finding Nemo's" marathon swim is set to top $500 million at the overseas boxoffice this weekend, setting an all-time industry record for an animated film.
The Walt Disney Co./Pixar CGI production, which opens in Turkey today for the start of the film's final offshore date, also will become the ninth film of any kind to cross the half-billion-dollar mark in the international market.
In hitting the $500 million milestone, "Nemo" took over the animated film championship from Disney stablemate "The Lion King," which held the crown for a decade with an overseas gross of $455 million.
