The well-meaning but woefully unconvincing "Kids in America" revolves around a bunch of good-looking young actors striking earnest poses as good-looking high-schoolers striking "interesting" poses while they stand up to unreasonable school authorities. In a posh Southern California suburb, a group of kids is outraged when several of their classmates are suspended for making political or artistic statements. Lighting a fire under the kids is their AV-class teacher, one-time documaker Mr. D. (Malik Yoba), who scraps the traditional making-of-the-prom video, devastating cheerleader Kelly (Nicole Richie, in her barely-there big-screen debut).
