NEW YORK -- A stylishly filmed thriller that may suffer more from bad timing than any lack of quality, "Trapped" is a fairly engrossing suspenser that deals with the topic of child kidnapping, not exactly a comfortable subject these days.
Opened without press screenings, the film may face tough sledding commercially because of its distasteful subject matter.
Will (Stuart Townsend), a rising young anesthesiologist who just happens to have invented a new paralyzing drug (one guess as to whether it will figure in the plot later on); his gorgeous wife, Karen (Theron); and their adorable 6-year-old daughter, Abby (Dakota Fanning).
