A boundlessly energetic coming-of-age story set during the Age of Aquarius, Jean-Marc Vallee's "C.R.A.Z.Y." lives up to its name, carving out a psychedelic swirl of period pop culture that incorporates Patsy Cline, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Bruce Lee and Charles Aznavour on the same lively canvas. Taking place in the noisy home of a middle-class Montreal family, the picture describes the sexually confused life and times of Zachary Beaulieu (Marc-Andre Grondin), the fourth of five sons born on Christmas Day 1960 to a Patsy Cline-loving, chain-smoking father (Michel Cote) and well-meaning mother (Danielle Proulx), who always seems to be pressing grilled cheese sandwiches with her trusty iron.
