After receiving flak for going too easy on Cuban leader Fidel Castro in his February 2002 chat that resulted in last year's never-aired documentary "Comandante" (made for HBO but unveiled only at Sundance), Stone gives Castro a much more thorough grilling in this "America Undercover" docu culled from a follow-up visit to Havana at HBO's behest in May. The filmmaker makes a valiant effort to hold the dictator accountable for myriad human rights violations resulting from Cuba's most recent governmental crackdown. [...] while "Looking for Fidel" is disorientingly shot and features subtitles that are often difficult to read, it represents far more than a mere exercise in propaganda.
