The sci-fi B-movie returns with "A Sound of Thunder," a gloriously lead-footed excursion into time travel with all the accoutrements of 1950s science fiction: an absurd plot, cliched characters, corny effects and a race against time to save mankind. World-class filmmakers have long ago pushed the boundaries of story, theme and special effects in science fiction from the B to A level. Unintended laughs and overheated melodrama transform "Thunder" into something approaching a comedy.
