Alphaville, the Paramount Pictures-based production shingle, has signed Jonathan Hensleigh, who most recently directed and co-wrote "The Punisher," to write and direct a remake of the 1950s adventure film "The Naked Jungle" for Paramount.
The project will be a contemporary version of the 1954 feature, which starred Charlton Heston as Christopher Leiningen, whose chocolate plantation on the Rio River is threatened by a 2-mile-wide, 20-mile-long column of army ants.
Eleanor Parker starred as the mail-order bride from New Orleans who joins the fight against the ants and in doing so weakens her new husband's resolve to send her back home.
