With the spring boxoffice continuing to soar over where it was a year ago, Hollywood insiders are voicing optimism not just about this summer but also about the summer of 2007.
Distribution executives talking about last weekend's grosses were cheered by seeing a third consecutive weekend in which ticket sales were sharply higher than this time last year.
Looking at the improving marketplace, it's certainly good news that the $65.6 million grossed by last weekend's top three films is about 47% more than last year's $44.7 million top three gross.
