"Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!" has a contemporary setting but feels like it takes place in the Doris Day era where all young women are virtuous, most young men are too tongue-tied to approach any virtuous woman and all Hollywood types are fatuous and greedy. Ironically, what the comedy lacks is the sly imagination and satirical underpinnings of the best sex comedies from that era. [...] exposition is poorly executed, genuine laughs come infrequently and you quickly lose confidence that the filmmakers even understand what their basic joke is.
