A good part of the problem with ABC's "My Kind of Town" is its heavily accented (and equally heavily annoying) host Johnny Vaughan, who is evidently a sensation in the U.K. but comes across here as so far over the top that you'd swear he was riding a space shuttle of some sort (we should be so lucky). Vaughan, who seems something of a Gordon Elliott wannabe, seems to take great delight in yanking the collective chain of the inhabitants as they resemble fans in the stands at a high school football game. First up is a poor shlub named Todd Campbell who is treated to the spectacle of having his oversized and ratty sandals torched on a barbecue grill because they're too smelly.
