Preseason buzz was that "Coupling," the comedy imported from Britain by exec producer Phoef Sutton, was something of a "Friends" clone.
Like the HBO comedy, it is never more than a few moments away from some sexual reference, often chipping in clever observations about the differences between the way men and women approach the topic and act on it.
At least a couple of NBC affiliates say they won't carry the show because the sexual content goes beyond what is acceptable for broadcasters in their communities.
