'Basterds' star eyed for German crime series

August 12, 2009 COLOGNE, Germany -- "Inglourious Basterds" star Christoph Waltz could be trading his SS uniform for the shirt and tie of a police detective. German regional public broadcaster HR is courting Waltz to take over as the lead in its long-running hit crime series "Tatort," which airs on main national channel ARD. Tukur starred in this year's Cannes Palme d'Or winner "The White Ribbon" from director Michael Haneke and recently won the German Film Award for best actor for the lead role in Florian Gallenberger-directed biopic "John Rabe."
