Meet the CW's young parents

January 12, 2009 Shiri Appleby, Kristoffer Polaha and Kerr Smith have been tapped to star in the CW's hourlong pilot "Light Years" for CBS Par and director Gary Fleder. The Liz Tigelaar-penned dramedy centers on foster kid Lux (Brittany Robertson) who, on her 16th birthday, tracks down her slacker biological father, bar owner Nick "Baze" Basile (Polaha), and her mother, morning radio host Cate Campbell (Appleby), who haven't spoken since high school when their one-night stand resulted in pregnancy. Lauren Graham was barely 33 when she was cast as the mom of a teenage daughter in "Gilmore Girls," 14 1/2-years older than screen daughter Alexis Bledel.
