Dardennes teaching Cannes masterclass

May 08, 2009 Belgian filmmaking brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne will impart their cinematographic knowledge to festivalgoers during a Cinema Masterclass at the 62nd Festival de Cannes, organizers said Friday. The brothers are no strangers to Cannes, having won two Palme d'Or prizes for best film ("Rosetta" in 1999 and "The Child" in 2005), plus best actress ("Rosetta") and actor ("The Son") wins and a best screenplay award for "Lorna's Silence" at last year's fest. The Dardennes follow previous Masterclass professors Martin Scorsese, Nanni Moretti, Wong Kar Wai and last year's teacher, Quentin Tarantino.
