Canal Plus picks up 'Nurse Jackie'
October 06, 2009 Canal Plus will speed up viewers' heart rates with Edie Falco starrer "Nurse Jackie," the French pay TV group said here Tuesday. Produced by Lionsgate and Showtime Networks, "Jackie" has been a hit on Showtime since its summer launch date and Canal Plus is hoping for similar success on its networks when it airs in 2010. Canal Plus has acquired a healthy slate of new titles for its networks including Bill Gallagher's six-episode miniseries "The Prisoner," an AMC-ITV production starring Jim Caviezel and Ian McKellen, France's leading pay TV group has also snagged early rights to four-episode miniseries "Homeland," a Daybreak Pictures and Breakout Films production for Channel 4 with the participation of Canal Plus and Arte that focuses on Palestine before 1948 and Israel today.
