'Mamma' sinks 'Titanic' record in the U.K.
December 16, 2008 Lloyd's romantic musical comedy finally sank the 10-year grip "Titanic" has had on the record with her film singing its way to 69.1 million pounds ($105.8 mil million), while the James Cameron drama sailed away with 69 million pounds in 1998. "Mamma Mia!" broke the longstanding record just days after the film picked up two Golden Globe nominations for best picture (musical or comedy) and best actress (musical or comedy) for star Meryl Streep.
