Acceleration, arson next for Curry
March 15, 2007 Director Marshall Curry is following up his Oscar-nominated documentary "Street Fight" with two new nonfiction features: the aspiring NASCAR driver chronicle "Racing Dreams" and the true tale of an environmental arsonist, "If a Tree Falls." "Dreams" will track three junior high school-age "extreme kart racers" through the World Karting Assn.'s Rage Karts Speedway Pavement Series, a training ground for NASCAR hopefuls. "Falls," a self-financed project shot by Curry during the past year, follows controversial environmental activist Daniel McGowan after his arrest and plea bargain for committing arson.
