Ryan is best for 'Awful' mini at HBO

November 30, 2006 Meg Ryan is attached to star in "The Best Awful," an HBO miniseries adaptation of the Carrie Fisher novel. The book recounts the further adventures of the heroine from Fisher's best-selling, thinly veiled autobiographical novel "Postcards From the Edge," a bipolar, ex-actress, celebrity talk show host with a 6-year-old daughter, a gay ex-husband, an aging movie star mother and an unshakable will to survive. Cohen and Jinks, who were behind the Oscar-winning "American Beauty," are producing ABC's highly anticipated thriller "Traveler."
