Media companies on board for Webby events
March 18, 2008 Viacom's Comedy Central, The Onion, Nokia, Billboard and others will take part in offline Web-focused events during Internet Week in New York, leading up to the 12th Annual Webby Awards Gala on June 10. The events will be organized by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, which puts on the Webbys, in cooperation with the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting. Members of the Internet Week New York executive council include Katherine Oliver, the commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, former AOL chief Bob Pittman of the Pilot Group, Onion president Sean Mills and Federated Media founder John Battelle.
