'Disgrace' acclaimed at Taiwan fest
July 06, 2009 HONG KONG -- "Disgrace," the South African post-Apartheid drama directed by Australia's Steve Jacobs, Friday won the New Talent Competition at the Taipei Film Festival in Taiwan. The John Malkovich-starring picture was praised by the jury for its "profound insight in contemporary political conflicts as well as in the resulting conflicts of the human soul and in the truly mastery way in which this insight is revealed through unforgettable scenes of great cinema." Local film "Parking" ("Ting Che") by Chung Mong-hong won the competition's Special Jury Prize and was lauded for its innovative storytelling.
