'Dreamgirls' nabs 8 NAACP Image noms


January 10, 2007 "Dreamgirls" hit the right note by garnering eight NAACP Image Awards nominations Tuesday, including best motion picture. The period musical from DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures also nabbed mentions for best actor (Jamie Foxx), actress (Beyonce Knowles), supporting actor (Danny Glover, Eddie Murphy), supporting actress (Anika Noni Rose, Jennifer Hudson) and soundtrack. Vanessa L. Williams, Isaiah Washington, Chandra Wilson, Shaun Robinson and DB Woodside joined NAACP executives to announce the nominees in 35 categories for the 38th installment of the kudoscast during a press conference at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills.
