'Nim's Island' tops sales, rentals
August 13, 2008 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment's "Nim's Island" captured the top spot on both the national home video sales and rental charts the week ending Aug. 10, proving that there's no time like the summer to release a family film. "Nim's Island" came to DVD and Blu-ray Disc with a boxoffice gross of just $48 million, but its popularity on disc was enough to boot the previous week's top seller, New Line's "Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay," to a distant No. 2 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart. Meanwhile, on Home Media Magazine's video rental chart, "Nim's Island" scored a narrower victory, with "Harold & Kumar" snagging 78% as many rental transactions as the Fox family film for a third-place finish.
