'Speed Racer' bow rocks Nokia Theatre

April 27, 2008 The Nokia Theatre held its first movie premiere Saturday, with Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow unveiling the Wachowski brothers' first family film, "Speed Racer." The site was big enough to accommodate the movie's many promotional partners -- including Mattel, Visa, General Mills and Puma -- whom Warners counted on to help offset the cost of the event, estimated at $500,000. Among those on hand were directors J.J. Abrams and Zack Snyder, who brought their families, as well as nearly 2,000 children bussed in from community outreach programs.
