Coppola won't take 'Tetro' to Cannes
April 19, 2009 Francis Ford Coppola's new film "Tetro" won't be headed to next month's Festival de Cannes. Instead, Coppola plans to screen the movie's trailer at the San Francisco International Film Festival as part of a tribute evening in his honor May 1. "While I very much appreciate the invitation, this is an independent film, self-financed and self-released, and I felt that being invited for a non-competition gala screening wasn't true to the personal and independent nature of this film," the director said Friday.
