'Choke' takes top prize at Maui fest


June 17, 2008 In the world cinema competition, Amin Matalqa's "Captain Abu Raed" was honored as best narrative feature, while "War Child" was best documentary feature. Other prizes went to "The Fall," cinematography; "Hawaiian Starlight," experimental film; "Chief," narrative short; "Guardians of the Sea," documentary short; and "Hot Dog," animation cast. The competition for the ensemble cast award resulted in a two-way tie between "The Great Buck Howard," starring Colin Hanks, John Malkovich, Tom Hanks and Emily Blunt, and "Bottle Shock," starring Bill Pullman, Alan Rickman, Chris Pine, Rachel Taylor, Freddy Rodriguez, Eliza Dushku and Dennis Farina.
