Younge named BBC chief creative officer

June 15, 2009 The BBC has wooed Travel Channel president Patrick Younge to become its chief creative officer, overseeing the production of such brands as "Doctor Who," "Strictly Come Dancing" and "Top Gear." Younge, a former BBC executive who joined Travel Channel in 2005, will bring a wealth of understanding of how audiences consume content across different platforms, according to BBC Vision director Jana Bennett, who said he was "a truly modern thinker" with an understanding of global audiences. While running Cox Communications-owned Travel Channel, Younge is credited with turning around an underperforming network that now reaches 94 million homes, overseeing programming, production, development and multimedia operations.
