Small progress in SAG-AFTRA ad talks
March 24, 2009 SAG and AFTRA are inching closer toward advertisers in the ongoing talks for a new commercials contract and seem to have taken a step back from seeking strike authorization from the rank and file. The moves toward consensus between the unions and the Joint Policy Committee, the negotiating panel for advertisers and advertising agencies, were described as relatively minor. Further, the labor groups are holding onto the possibility of sending out a strike referendum if sufficient progress is not made as the deadline approaches, sources added.
