The first hour unspools as a disorientated action-fest -- it's a frantic piece of filmmaking that invests nothing in the characters and moves much too fast for its own good. The films' target audience of young males and hard-core video gamers probably won't find the absence of plot a problem. The producers have upped both action and production values for the sequel and have kept a fair bit of the game's universe -- all of which should please the fans.
