Steve Pink tries the director's chair on for size with a higher-education comedy that, for a while anyway, acts like it might have been mentored by Matthew Broderick's Ferris Bueller and Vince Vaughn's Bernard "Beanie" Campbell character in "Old School."
[...] while Pink gets the requisite comic vibe down cool, the disappointment with "Accepted" is that, after a very funny start, there just isn't enough content to fill the feature-length curriculum.
Granted, the same could have been said about "Old School," but without the gonzo presence of a Will Ferrell, this under-achieving Universal release will probably have to settle for strictly average boxoffice grades.
